Concerned citizens created Re-Tree WNY to rehabilitate devastated street tree populations.

CLIMATE; THE CONVERSATION

MISSION STATEMENT

As conversations of weather occurrences and suggested anomalies become more frequent and mainstream in the scientific community, as well as at the grass-roots-level, the need to embrace and index substantive information into an authoritative conduit to encourage more research and development~~~IS IMPERATIVE.

Pertinent themes as Global Warming, Climate Change, and Melting Ice Caps has stimulated discussions, seeded forums, and spawned additional research, all to foster consensus, and recommend courses-of-action.

The intent of CLIMATE; THE CONVERSATION, is to be The Bulletin Board, The Platform, The Podium,  and The Credible Source & Bibliography for such astute, sincere, and scholarly considerations.

Sincerely;

Administrators:

In the wake of the Surprise October Storm of 2006, concerned citizens created Re-Tree WNY to rehabilitate devastated street tree populations.  The organization made it their goal to plant 30,000 in 5 years to bring the city’s canopy back to what it was before the storm.
As of today, Re-Tree has planted 26,565 street and park trees.  They are launching a campaign as a push to reach the final 30,000 tree mark and they need your help!
Throughout the next month (mid September to mid October), Re-Tree is asking for $50 donations from the community.  Each donation will be matched by Buffalo News Publisher Emeritus Stanford Lipsey, National Grid, and the Buffalo Green Fund Inc.  The money will then be used to complete the 3,435 tree plantings throughout the city.
“We hope this is the last time we need to appeal for funding,” stated Paul D. Maurer, Co-Founder and Chairman of Re-Tree, “we hope that soon the entire area will be greened up to pre-storm levels thanks to this final campaign!”
Re-Tree fits right in line with the Complete Streets ordinance; one component of making a street complete is including natural elements such as trees, rain gardens, water retention areas, and more.
GObike wants to spread the good word about this campaign to encourage you all to help with the city’s reforestation!  If you can’t contribute monetarily, be on the look out for updates about volunteer opportunities for the actual planting next year.
All donations are tax-deductible and all those who donate will be published in the Buffalo News.  Memorials are encouraged!  Donations may be sent to:
Re-Tree
PO Box 282
Buffalo, NY 14202-0282
Make checks payable to Green Fund, Inc./Re-Tree Buffalo

  This is another poignant example of how an on-going energetic-effort, once effected and given the time and place to demonstrate its cause-and-effect intentions in a positive way, can influence implementation on a larger scale. Its impact on the economy, pollution, and the focus on Climate; The Conversation---makes this worthy of continued enthusiasm and consideration.
